Not every piano teacher can help beginners go from zero to one, nor can every teacher help advanced students break through to the next level. We have years of experience teaching beginners and high level students, have studied piano repertoire, and play at a pro level, so we can demonstrate concepts and techniques to even the most advanced piano students. Our knowledge of piano literature helps us assign the perfect piece or exercise to students at the right time – our assignments will be within reach, but they will help you move your skills forward. We also know how to assign music to students that they will genuinely enjoy.

But what do beginner and advanced lessons look like? With beginners, we make sure you learn fundamentals like bass clef and treble clef note reading, time signatures, key signatures (as you progress), keys on the piano, five finger patterns and scales, and basic chord formations. We also teach you to play with good technique. This will allow you to progress at the piano quickly, and we always provide helpful and effective practice strategies for you to pursue at home.

Intermediate and advanced students usually need to focus on finger speed, better reading ability, and musical interpretation to take their playing to the next level, but it may also come down to practice strategies. How do you break a challenging piece of music down into actionable practice sections? How do you piece those sections together?
